The automatic locking mechanism
simply requires that you guide your wheelchair over the top of the
lock until the interface on your wheelchair is fully engaged. Once
you have reached your destination, release the wheelchair from the
system with the touch of a conveniently located push-button
switch.
The system is controlled by state of the art electronics, which
are accessed through the user-friendly ECU control panel. This
panel controls release, deactivation of the alarm for unoccupied
use, and an array of warning indicators to advise you of the
status of the system.
The Freedom You Deserve
The EZ Lock wheelchair restraint
system provides the physically challenged driver, or passenger, a
degree of independence not possible with other systems. The EZ
Lock system does not require cumbersome tiedown belts or straps to
be attached to the wheelchair, and an attendant is not needed to
engage or release the system.
Numerous
safety features have been built into the EZ Lock system, these
include:
- Sturdy all steel construction
- Visual & audible alarms
- Dependable solid state
electronics
- Ignition inhibited release
circuit
- Emergency manual release
Our system has been
independently tested to the 30mph/20g standard. In these test the
EZ Lock system has consistently proven its effectiveness at
securing the wheelchair, on the crash sled and in real life
collisions.
EZ Lock has a proven track record, and we have many testimonials
from satisfied users actually involved in severe collisions. You
may view some of these user testimonials by clicking on the button
to your left. The testimonials illustrate the superb performance
of the EZ Lock wheelchair restraint system, when it really counts.
How It Works...
The
basic EZ Lock system consists of two main components, the EZ Lock
base and the wheelchair mounted hardware. The EZ Lock base, which
is mounted to the floor of the vehicle, is a low profile docking
station (8"W x 10"L x 2.25"H) constructed of heavy gauge 3/16"
steel.
The EZ Lock base acts as the receiver for the heavy duty 5/8"
docking pin, which is attached to the wheelchair.
The
base and wheelchair mounted hardware are designed to withstand
repeated operation and when properly maintained will provide many
years of service.
The wheelchair mounted hardware is designed for your specific
wheelchair, and hardware is available for most of the popular
wheelchairs manufactured in the United States, Canada and Europe.
PRODUCTS
BL-6290

The BL-6290 base lock is the
heart of the EZ Lock system. The casing is made of sturdy 3/16”
powder coated steel, and the locking jaws are ¼” steel coated with
a permanently bonded lubricant. Entry into the lock is mechanical,
and release is effected by an electrical pull solenoid. An
emergency mechanical release is also incorporated in case the
vehicle loses power. The base lock is mounted to the floor of the
vehicle, and acts as the receiver for the interfacing pin mounted
to the wheelchair.
ECU-2 Control
Panel
The
ECU-2 is the main user interface for the EZ Lock system. The
functions of the ECU-2 include release, alarm buzzer deactivation
for unoccupied use, and an array of warning indicators. The green
light signifies that the locking jaws are completely closed and
the system is safe to use. The yellow indicator light means that
the locking jaws are not completely closed, and the user should
exit, then re-enter the base lock. The red light indicates that
the system has been de-activated for unoccupied use only.
