Vangater™ fold-in-half lift was a major innovation in adapted van

loading and unloading. With the lift in its folded position, the

SYSTEM OPERATION
The operator opens the vehicle's door and activates the
platform fold/unfold switch to bring the platform to the
horizontal position. For boarding, the lift is lowered to
ground level by activating the lift up/down switch. After
boarding, the front roll stop automatically engages as the
platform is raised. After the user/passenger has reached
floor level and rolled into the van, the platform can be
stowed with the fold/unfold switch. The platform can be
manually folded in half. |
SYSTEM
DESCRIPTION
The lift is powered by a 12 volt, 1 h.p. electric motor. A
worm gear driven ball screw assembly drives the lifting
mechanism to raise or lower the platform. The platform is of
strong tubular steel construction, with a non slip expanded
metal surface. It incorporates a passively activated front
roll stop which acts as the loading and unloading platform,
with side panels.
LIFT CONTROLS
The lift is controlled by a standard handheld pendant
control with two switches controlling the operation of the
lift: up/down and fold/unfold. Optional controls include: a
handrail switch controlling the up/down function,
dash-mounted toggle switch controls, a dash-mounted
touch-pad control, taillight magnetic switches, a rear
exterior control with key lock, and a remote control system.
DOOR OPERATORS
Optional automatic door operator kits are available for
swing and slide door Chevy, Ford and Dodge vans. The 30"
platform is not recommended for slide door applications or
swing door applications with door operators.
SIDE ENTRY FEATURE
The optional side entry feature is useful in tight parking
situations. The wheelchair user may exit or board the
platform from the side, effectively reducing the amount of
space necessary between the parked vehicles.
